        Software and Systems Modeling with Graph Transformations
      Special Issue of the Journal on Software and Systems Modeling

Over the years model-based development has gained rapidly increasing popularity
in various engineering disciplines. Numerous efforts have resulted in the
invention of an abundance of appropriate modeling concepts, languages, and tools.
Today modeling activities often span multiple disciplines and have to be addressed
by collaborative efforts across disciplines such as industrial automation,
business engineering, hardware/software co-design, real-time system development,
Web 2.0 application design, and so forth. 

As a consequence "model-based development" techniques related to the analysis and
synchronization of families of models that are concurrently developed by different
engineers on different levels of abstraction play a major role in many software
and systems development projects.

Graphs, on the other hand, are among the simplest and most universal models for a
variety of systems, not just in computer science, but throughout engineering and
the life sciences. Graph transformations combine the idea of graphs as a universal
modelling paradigm with a rule-based mathematically well-founded approach to
specify their evolution. As a consequence graph transformation concepts, languages,
and tools offer an appropriate framework for specifying and simulating as well as
for predicting and verifying critical properties of model transformations in
different application domains such as ...

 * Bioinformatics and system biology
 * Civil engineering
 * Embedded & mechatronic system development
 * Image generation and pattern recognition techniques
 * Process control engineering
 * Self-adaptive systems and ubiquitous computing
 * Workflows and business processes

The Journal on Software and Systems Modeling therefore invites original, 
high-quality submissions for its theme issue on 

   "Software and Systems Modeling with Graph Transformations" 

focusing on foundations, applications, and tools that rely on graph transformation
theory and offer nevertheless practical support for the enactment of model-based
engineering processes.

Submission Details

  * Papers must be written in a scientifically rigorous manner with adequate
    references to related work.
  * Submitted papers must not be simultaneously submitted in an extended or 
    shortened form to other journals or conferences. It is however possible to 
    submit extended versions of previously published work if less than 70% of
    the content already appeared in a NON-journal publication. Please see the 
    SoSyM Policy Statement on Plagiarism for further conditions.
  * Submitted papers should adhere to the SoSyM author information instructions 
    for submitting papers.
  * Each paper will be reviewed by three reviewers.

 * login and go to Author Center
 * select the link for new manuscripts under Author Resources and
   provide the following information:

   1- Type, Title, Abstract:
      Select 'Special Section Paper' as the paper type.
      Choose Bernhard Rumpe as the Editor in Chief (EIC).

   2- Attributes:
      These are keywords describing the paper; no restrictions on this input.

   3- Authors & Institutions: again, no restrictions

   4- Reviewers & Editors:
      Near the bottom of this page is a section called 'Add an Editor'.
      It has a pull-down list of editors.  
      Please choose "Schürr & Rensink" and click 'Designate as Preferred Editor'.

   5- Details & Comments: 
      This form includes uploading the pdf cover letter and answering 
      previous publication questions; the cover letter has to at least contain  
      the following line:
